I have many CDs, but at the moment not so much space. So I decided to build a MP3 player with a harddisk. Luckily I got hold of an old info terminal. It was used in a train, therefor I had to replace the power supply. The harddisk was small in dimensions (2.5") and storage space (about 2.2GB). However there was enough space to replace it with a 60GB 3.5" harddisk. I also added a soundcard. To fit it into the case, I removed all connectors and the power amplifier. The small noisy CPU fan was replaced by a slow low noise fan, which blows directly onto the CPU, but also cools the whole player. An IR-Sensor is connected to the serial port. The MP3 are uploaded via the LAN connection, which is also used to listen to internet radio.
